Midweek Groups
Being a Christian isn't just for Sundays. What you do between your Sundays is vitally important to maintaining a healthy faith.
We know that life is hectic and time is often at a premium, but it's rarely good to go an entire week without interacting with other believers. We don't plan to overwhelm you or keep you from spending time with your family but we do provide several opportunities to encourage and build one another up throughout the week.
Life groups
Meeting at least every other week, our life groups meet in homes in and around Buckingham and are an opportunity to come together to pray for each other and study God's word together. This is a vital way of ensuring that pastoral concerns are dealt with within the church. Those in each life groups often become very good friends and are key to being an active part of the church. For more details of when groups meet please read our blog post.
Discipleship groups
When someone becomes a Christian and starts following Jesus, we don't just leave them to get on with it. We want to take time to help you find your feet, learn to study the Bible yourself, to pray and give you a solid start to your lifetime of following Jesus. We call this discipleship - basically, teaching you to follow Jesus. We often use a course called Discipleship Explored to start this off, but then will work with you to connect you into a life group with others who can continue to walk alongside you.
Prayer meetings
We hold an hour of prayer every month. This is an "all together" time when the whole church comes together for elder-led prayer. We try to keep to time and to include as many as possible. If you find the idea of praying out loud terrifying, don't be put off. Come anyway. It's just as encouraging to have you there calling out a hearty, "amen!" as you listen and pray along with the others who are meeting.
Bible study groups
From time to time we'll hold Bible study groups to look at specific subjects or themes, or perhaps when a few who aren't Christians have asked us to study with them. These tend to be more ad hoc than other midweek groups but it you think you'd find this useful, please speak with one of the elders. We also run groups for Men and Women that specifically cater to the needs of each.
